When Veronica first launched her podcast, she had high hopes of reaching thousands of listeners.
However, she quickly realized that simply uploading her podcast to Apple Podcasts wasn’t enough to grow her audience. With a little work, she was able to turn things around and grow her audience steadily.
In this new video on how to grow a podcast audience, she shares her top five-step process for growing your podcast audience.
Find Your Fans and Build a Following
First and foremost, it’s important to define your audience and articulate your message. Without a clear understanding of who you’re making your podcast for, it’s difficult to create content that will resonate with them.
Knowing your audience will help you understand the topics they’re most interested in, the social media platforms they frequent, and the events they attend.
Additionally, it’s important to be clear about the value that your podcast will provide.
Ask yourself what your message is and how it will help your audience. This message doesn’t have to be set in stone, but it’s important to have something to start with and to be able to articulate it clearly.
In the example Veronica gives, she talks about a podcast for men to discuss different topics. However, the audience could be narrowed down to men in their early twenties starting careers, men interested in football, men in tech, or retired men. Once you know your audience, it’s easier to find them on the internet and understand what events they attend.
The truth is that there’s no such thing as overnight success when it comes to podcasting or content creation in general.
Even those with existing audiences or those who are celebrities or influencers in their field still have to work to transfer that audience over to their podcast.
Growing an audience takes time and consistent effort, but with the right approach, it’s possible to achieve.
